Pediatricians, Doctors, and Medical Organizations Sign Declaration Urging Prominent U.S. Medical Organizations to Cease Harmful Interventions on Children with Gender Dysphoria

Atlanta, GA –Pediatricians of the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) alongside colleagues representing medical organizations across the U.S. have signed the Doctors Protecting Children Declaration.  The signatories call on prominent American medical institutions to halt current harmful protocols promoted for children and adolescents who express discomfort with their biological sex.

ACPeds has authored the Declaration, and it has already been co-signed by medical and health organizations across the U.S. including Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine (AHM), American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), American College of Family Medicine (ACFM), Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), Catholic Health Care Leadership Alliance (CHCLA), Catholic Medical Association (CMA), Child & Parental Rights Campaign (CPRC), Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA), Coalition of Jewish Values, Colorado Principled Physicians, Genspect, Honey Lake Clinic, National Association of Catholic Nurses, National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC), North Carolina Physicians For Freedom (NCPFF).  It has also been signed by leading pediatricians and other doctors and health professionals across the U.S.

The Declaration’s co-signers affirm that the best evidence and research suggests that children are put in serious harm by surgeries, puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormones and that these interventions do not improve the physical or mental well-being of adolescents with gender dysphoria.

The Declaration calls on “the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Endocrine Society, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, the American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to adhere to evidence-based research and utilize comprehensive evaluations and therapies for youth with gender dysphoria.”

Dr. Jill Simons, pediatrician and Executive Director of ACPeds urged:

“It is time that these American medical institutions follow the science and the lead of our European professional colleagues and cease to promote protocols that harm children, including the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex.”

ACPeds along with other Doctors Protecting Children co-signers will hold a press conference at 10 am ET at the National Press Club today in Washington, DC to announce the Declaration.  The press conference will be livestreamed at

The Declaration and the list of co-signers may be found at

ACPeds also launched in September 2023, a reliable medical resource on the topic of gender dysphoria for parents, teens, physicians, schools, and policymakers.
